Learnerships:
A learnership is registered learning process against a recognized qualification that is registered with a SETA for a set duration of time.

A learnership can be funded by the SETA or self-funded by the employer. There are two different types of learnerships:

  1. Unemployed learnerships

An unemployed learnership is where an employer takes on learners which do not have full time employment with their organization at the start of the process who will become temporarily employed for a average period of 12months while the learnership is in process.

An unemployed learnership would be run as a pure classroom based program facilitated by registered subject matter experts.

  1. Employed learnerships

An employed learnership is where an employer intends on upskilling existing staff of the organization against a full qualification within an average period of 12months.

An employed learnership can be run either as a classroom based program or as a blended online program.

The benefit to running a registered learnership is as follows:

  2. You can claim SARS Tax Rebates of R60 000.00 per learner if they complete the full qualification.
